GUT signet

The GUT signet for carpets has been developed by the Association of Environmentally Friendly Carpets e.V. (GUT), founded in 1990 in Aachen, Germany, by leading European carpet manufacuturers. Today the GUT signet is the carpet label the most noted in Europe also being an integral part of the European product information system for textile floor coverings  PRODIS.

The aim of the GUT association is to coninuously improve the friendliness for environment and consumers of textile floor coverings - namely in terms of the wohle life cycle: beginning at an environmentally friendly production to a safe installation and a healthy usability to an environment-sparing disposal and recycling.

This initiative of the European carpet manufacturers has sustainably changed the environment standards of the floor covering industry.

eco-INSTITUT is GUT-approved testing body for pollutant and emission testing and looks forward testing your textile floor covering according to the GUT criteria. Contact us!

Testing procedure

"Carpets tested for a better living environment"

The test for gaining the GUT signet is subdived in three segments: an extensive pollutant test ( heavy metals, plasticisers, biocides, pesticides, POPS (Persistant Organic Pollutants)) and a stringent emission test (according to ISO 16000, incl formaldehdyes, aldehydes, ketones and carcinogins) are performed. And, in addition, a sensory odour test takes place.
