DGM - emissions label for furniture

In cooperation with leading testing bodies like TÜV Rheinland, eco-INSTITUT Cologne, German Federal Environmental Agency (Umweltbundesamt - UBA) and DIN Consumer Council the German Quality Assurance Association (Deutsche  Gütegemeinschaft Möbel - DGM) has developed emissions classifications for furniture and out of these the first global emissions label for furniture which has been launched early 2015. The aim was to develop a label that easily communicates to the consumer all infos about the emissions profile.

The following furniture products can be awarded the the label:

  • Seating furniture,
  • free standing cabinets,
  • tables,
  • Office furniture,
  • slatted frames
  • and mattresses.

The proof of the classifications A to D takes place on the ground of compliance with criteria of respective pollutant testing performed through independent testing bodies on the basis of the requirements following RAL-GZ 430 or the basic criteria by the Blue Angel (RAL-UZ 38 for wood products, RAL-UZ 117 for upholstered furniture, RAL-UZ 119 for mattresses).

eco-INSTITUT is co-developer of the new DGM emissions label and looks forward to testing your furniture products according to these emissions criteria. Contact us!
