Construction products**

Coating materials (on the basis of synthetic substances), sealing materials (on the basis of synthetic substances), wood-based materials/ extension boards (with coating such as MDF boards, OSB boards and chipboards), adhesives (on the basis of synthetic substances), mineral construction products***

Floor Coverings

Wood and cork flooring, parquet, laminate, panels (with surface on the basis of synthetic substances), carpets, resilient and outdoor floor coverings

Mattresses

Latex mattresses, (cold) foam mattresses, inner spring mattresses, futons with cushioning materials such as kapok, coconut, horsehair or synthetic fibres

Bedding

Duvets and pillows of animal, natural or synthetic padding materials

Furniture

Furniture made of solid wood, plastic or metal, of coated and non-coated wood-based materials, upholstered furniture
Upholstered furniture with textile cover or leather

Testing criteria and range of testing

The testing criteria and limit values to be complied with are developed according to the latest state of the art and also product group specifically defined by the eco-INSTITUT.

Extensive lab tests are performed. The focus is on emissions testing (outgassing) in the test chamber (according to ISO 16000). Additionally, analyses of compounds - depending on the product group - are performed, for example, on selected parametres such as heavy metals, pesticides, halogenorganic compounds.

Since August 1, 2007, the standarised eco-INSTITUT-Label has gradually replaced the former marks of quality "eco certificate product low-emission pollutant tested" and "eco certificate ecological product test".

* Products are eligible for the eco-INSTITUT-Label if toxilogically harmless and by and large ecologically agreeable

**Construction products of a high share of renewable resources/mineral substances may be labelled with the European mark of quality natureplus being developed by, amongst others, the eco-INSTITUT. The eco-INSTITUT is an accredited natureplus testing body. More information
