Sustainable building certification system
In summer 2007, on the initiative of various branches of the construction and the real-estate industries German Sustainable Building Council was brought into being.
DGNB focusses on sustainable, environmentally friendly and economically efficent building. Buildings fulfilling these criteria may be labelled with DGNB certificate that was developed in 2009. The label is rewarded in the categories of Platinum, Bronze, Silver and Gold.
The quality mark of the DGNB considers the 6 aspects:
- ecological quality
- economical quality
- sociocultural and functional quality
- technical quality
- process quality
- location and site quality
whereat, inter alia, indoor air quality by the applied (indoor) construction materials is examined but also the use of further certified, e.g. Blue Angel, products.
For certification through DGNB indoor air quality is, among other things, examined in the aspects of socioculturall and funtional quality. The use of applied products being already certified and through this provenly low-pollutant and low-emission is positivley evaluated.
