Quality label for natural textiles

The IVN quality mark “NATURTEXTIL IVN certified BEST” identifies natural textiles that have been produced and inspected according to strict guidelines. It has been awarded by the International Association of the Natural Textiles (Internationaler Verband der Naturtextilwirtschaft – IVN) since 2000.

The IVN criteria define both requirements the entire textile production chain: from the extraction of textile raw fibres, environmentally friendly and socially responsible production in all production stages to the labelling of the end products.

Another basic requirement for the award of the label is that 100 percent certified natural fibres are used. Thus, the IVN quality label “NATURTEXTIL certified BEST” is even stricter in its requirements than the GOTS standard (here a minimum share of 70 percent of certified natural fibres applies).

Version 6.1 of the criteria was published in 2018.

About the IVN

The IVN, founded in 1999, emerged from the ArbeitsKreisNaturtextil (AKN), which was founded in 1989. The association now has more than 100 members from the crafts, industry and trade sectors, such as suppliers, prepress companies or producers. The eco-INSTITUT is also a member of the IVN and played a major role in the development of the criteria.
