In December 2018, the Jury Umweltzeichen met and revised various DE-UZ award criteria for construction products.

In the message on the jury results of the meeting, the Blue Angel page states the following:

One of the innovations is that all interior wall paints and plasters can only receive the Blue Angel in future if they are free of preservatives. However, the transition period has been extended by one year to allow manufacturers to make the partly expensive switch to the preservative-free formulation. For the eco-label paint, emission measurement was introduced as an alternative to formulation testing. The scope of the eco-labels for paints, sealants and resilient floor coverings was also extended.

The revised awarding principles include those for

Interior wall colors (DE-UZ 102)
Interior plaster (DE-UZ 198)
Paints (DE-UZ 12a)
Floor covering adhesives (DE-UZ 113)
Sealants for the interior (DE-UZ 123)
Thermal insulation composite systems (DE-UZ 140)
Laying underlays for floor coverings (DE-UZ 156)
Elastic floor coverings (DE-UZ 120)

These are now successively published on the Blue Angel website. As soon as they are published there, we will also link to the Blue Angel service offer from our site.

eco-INSTITUT is recognized Blue Angel testing laboratory and is authorized to test construction products, floor coverings, leather, mattresses, furniture and doors according to the Blue Angel criteria – the focus is on VOC emissions. More information can be found here.
