Sustainable building certification system

Since 2009, the German Sustainable Building Council has been awarding certification to buildings that meet various criteria for sustainable, environmentally friendly and economically efficient construction.

The certificate is awarded in platinum, gold, silver or bronze.

In terms of content, the DGNB system is based on life cycle assessment, performance orientation and the holistic nature of a project. This means that the entire life cycle of a project is considered, as well as its overall performance. The sustainability areas of ecology, economy and socio-cultural aspects are particularly in focus, as well as the site assessment and the technical and process-related quality of a project. The indoor air quality, among other things, is also examined. The use of building materials that are already certified and thus proven to be low in pollutants and emissions is evaluated positively.

Since 2018, the eco-INSTITUT-Label has been a recogniced DGNB product label.
