At the end of 2022, the British government announced a deadline extension for the recognition of CE-marked products on the British market.
Construction products with the CE marking may now be placed on the UK market until 30 June 2025, for other products the deadline is now 1 January 2024.
Originally, 1 January 2023 was planned as the deadline from which only the UKCA mark was to be recognised on the British market.
With the new deadline, a corresponding new transition period now also applies, during which both the CE marking and the UKCA marking are valid on the UK market.
According to current regulations, the eco-INSTITUT unfortunately cannot become an official UK-approved body, as only bodies with headquarters and testing activities in the UK are recognised for this purpose. However, as we are a European notified body, our tests can be used for marketing in the UK until at least mid-2025 in accordance with the above-mentioned regulation. After this date, however, UKCA certification bodies in the UK may continue to recognise our test reports within the scope of their assessment and discretion.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us by email at info@eco-institut.de or by telephone on +49 221 931245 0. Please note that we are a testing body for emissions testing (e.g. formaldehyde, VOC) as part of the product assessments.
For more information on the UKCA marking, please see our UKCA page here as well as the UK Government page here.
