The new requirements after 6 August 2026: basics and proof of conformity
After August 6, 2026, new harmonized limit values for formaldehyde emissions from products will apply in Europe following the amendment to Annex XVII of the REACH Regulation. We reported on Sept 11th, 2023, here and on June, 18th, 2025, here.
A reference method has been described for proof of conformity, which largely corresponds to EN 717-1:2004 (Wood-based panels – Determination of formaldehyde release). However, other methods may be used depending on the product and its use (e.g., EN 16516). For guidance, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has published a guideline, but this still leaves some questions unanswered.
This one-hour, free online seminar on 24 March 2026 at 10 am will therefore provide you with an introduction to the new requirements and the possible conformity tests.
The seminar will be held in English. If the minimum number of participants is not reached, we reserve the right to cancel the seminar and contact those who have already registered personally to clarify any questions about the new ECHA regulation or explain relevant content.
Registration is via the input mask below. You will receive the dial-in link in good time before the web seminar. The registration deadline is 22 March 2026 at 9 a.m.
