GOTS 5.0 published

Version 5.0 of the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) has been released. GOTS is the worldwide recognized standard for the processing of textiles made with 95 percent (label grade “organic”) or at least 70 percent (label grade “made with organic”) certified organic fibres.

EU-Ecolabel: Floor covering of wood, cork and bamboo are new product group

As published on February 2nd, 2017, in the Official Journal of the European Union notified C (2017)303, the commission decided to define criteria for EU-Ecolabel for floor coverings of wood, cork and bamboo.

In January 2017 California Department of Public Health published version “Standard Method for the Testing and Evaluation of Volatile Organic Chemical Emissions from Indoor Sources using Environmental Chambers Version 1.2”.

Original plans about French furniture emissions label revised

The plan of France to launch a furniture emissions label have revised due to the pressure of the furniture industry. The new legal texts regarding the label focus now only on the classification of formaldehyde.

SCS standards integrated by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

Beginning of 2017 the US American Environmental Protection Agency integrated the indoor air and pollutant emissions label of SCS Global Services (SCS) into the guidelines and recommendations of requirements for public procurement on an US federal level.

Federal cabinet agrees to moratorium of disposal of isolation materials containing HBCD

As the Federal Minstry for the Environment, Nature Conversation, Building and Nuclear Safety announced end of December 2016 in a press release the federal cabinet agreed to a one-year moratorium of disposal of isolation materials containing HBCD.

German Institute for Structural Engineering: publication of market surveillance programme for harmonised construction products

Market surveillance, German Institute for Structural Engineering (Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik – DIBt)’s new field of activity, having already published FAQs concerning the EU construction products regulation and market surveillance, now published a market surveillance programme (MS programme) for harmonice construction products to be realised in 2017.
