Label for furniture

Golden M is the quality mark of the German Furniture Quality Assurance Association (Deutsche Gütegemeinschaft Möbel – DGM) which is part of the German Quality Assurance Association RAL.

The test basis for the Golden M is the quality assurance RAL-GZ 430 (General Quality and Test Specifications for Furniture) developed in 1973. RAL-GZ 430 specifies

  • what furniture must withstand
  • how it must be processed
  • how the numerous tests and inspections in the laboratory must be carried out
  • which results are good enough for a tested piece of furniture to receive the RAL quality mark.

In addition to the stability and durability of the products, it focuses on compliance with the guideline values of substances that are harmful to health: including formaldehyde, solvents, volatile organic compounds (alkanes, esters, terpenes, ketones, hydrocarbons, etc.) as well as biocides, CFCs, flame retardants and heavy metals.
